Accademia Gallery – What you need to know
Even if your are not an expert in Arts, you still must take the time to visit the incredible Accademia Gallery during your stay in Venice! The Museum consists of 3 separate buildings: the Great School of St. Mary of Charity, the homonymous Gothic Church, and the Hall of Palladian Monastery of the Lateran Canons.
The museum houses works of some of the greatest Venetian Masters with painting from the 1300s to 1700s, such as Giovanni Bellini, Vittore Carpaccio, Giorgione with the famous painting La Tempesta (The Storm), Jacopo Tintoretto, Titian, Paolo Veronese and Giambattista Tiepolo, and as well as some of the great landscape artists of the 18th century.
Many of these works are of considerable dimensions, some even cover the entire walls such as “Dinner House Levi” by Giambattista Tiepolo.

The Accademia Galleries are open with the following schedule:
Monday from 8.15 to 14.00 (last admission at 13.00)
Tuesday to Sunday from 8.15 to 19.15 (ast admission at 18.15)
Closed on: Monday afternoons, January 1st, May 1st, December 25th.

From May 13th to July 29th 2016 only on Fridays, the Museum will remain open from 8.15 am to 22.15 (ticket office closes at 21.45). You can only visit the exhibition “Aldus. The Renaissance in Venice ” and Ala Palladian.
What to visit in the vicinity:
In the Dorsoduro district, remaining in the Accademia area, there are many places to visit starting with Punta della Dogana with the new Museum of Modern Art part of the Palazzo Grassi Museum, the Salute Church and the former salt warehouses, the venue will reopen next May 26, 2016 with the exhibition of Emilio Vedova Drawings and will remain open until November. The Peggy Guggenheim Museum is worth a visit not only for its incredible art collection but also for the views that the building offers on the Grand Canal. Take a beautiful stroll along the Zattere, in this area you will find quite a few bars / cafes and restaurants, such as:

Restaurant Lineadombra: Dorsoduro #19 – open every day- Good food and beautiful location with a terrace overlooking the Giudecca Canal with views of the Church of the Redeemer and the Island of San Giorgio.
Restaurant Ai Gondolieri: 366 Calle San Domenico, Dorsoduro.
Ristorante La Piscina: #780 Dorsoduro, closed on Mondays. Located along th Zattere overlooking the bay and right in front of the Island of Giudecca.
Caffe Poggi: 856 Piscina del Forner, an historic venetian Cafeteria open since 1919.
